"The best and brightest creative talent to emerge from New York City in the age of Obama." - Out Magazine

Pinocchio’s plight to be a real boy frames choreographer Kyle Abraham’s investigation of gender roles in the black community and the world of hip hop celebrity. In his Seattle debut and the West Coast premiere of this new work, a large ensemble of dancers perform athletic, street dance-infused movement backed by an industrial hip-hop soundscore that questions how an identity is formed.

Kyle Abraham emerges from NYC’s dance community after years of performing with several world-renowned companies and receiving a 2010 Bessie Award for his first New York evening-length work, The Radio Show. His approach to urban aesthetics and gender politics has made him one of the top 25 choreographers to watch in the US (Dance Magazine). In addition to performing and developing new works for his company, Abraham.In.Motion, Abraham also teaches his unique approach to postmodern dance in various schools and studios throughout the country.
