Itai Erdal is an award winning lighting designer. He’s also a gifted and gregarious storyteller who draws on a life fully lived between his birthplace, Jerusalem, and his current home in Vancouver BC. In How to Disappear Completely, Erdal uses his prodigious skills to demonstrate his approach to theatrical lighting while also reflecting on the events that followed his mother asking him to take her life. Directed by OtB alum James Long (Theatre Replacement), this behind-the-scenes look into the world of fresnels and PAR cans pairs the power of Erdal’s story with the nuanced potency of stage lighting.

Itai Erdal has designed lights for over 150 shows in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Tel Aviv, Berlin, London and New York. His long list of dance and theater collaborators include the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Neworld Theatre, Theatre Replacement and Radix. Erdal has been nominated for numerous awards, winning prestigious ones such as best design in the Dublin Fringe Festival in 2008 and Jessie Richardson awards in 2009 and 2011.

The Chop Theatre is a much lauded Vancouver BC-based company that has been building and touring original performances since 2004. Their work is known for its sophisticated experimentation with authenticity and has consistently involved some of the finest artists throughout Canada.
