Good News: Forced Entertainment Jan 10, 2007

The good news: Yesterday, I reserved four tickets and a table at Joe's Pub in NYC to see the incomporable Kiki and Herb perform Sun., Jan 21st. The bad news: I can't go to Vancouver this week to see the return of theater titans Forced Entertainment to the Northwest corner of North America at the Push Festival. They're performing QUIZOOLA! on January 10th and EXQUISITE PAIN on the 11-13th. Anyone that caught BLOODY MESS last season at OtB knows what a cool opportunity this is see one of the most innovative and entertaining theater companies in the world.

While 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' doesn't scream OtB to me... Jan 9, 2007

...and I wouldn't nominate it as our theme song, something about Kiki & Herb performing it feels oh so right and warrants a listen. Check out this music video to see Kiki & Herb do the song justice (features footage of young Coco!). And because there isn't nearly enough Kiki & Herb on this blog, please enjoy this photo:

Here's a blog review by Michael van Baker on Seattlest: "We Never Like Talking About The End" opened at On the Boards last night and we just picked up tickets for Saturday night, too. It's an evening of song, dance, and video that makes you laugh out loud while contemplating your mortality.

Dayna Hanson: We Never Like Talking about the End by Michael Seiwerath Dec 1, 2006

Dance theatre about the near-death community & spirituality, intercut with an American independent film and an appearance by the choreographer’s father. Once again Dayna Hanson has taken disparate elements that should equal a disaster, and somehow created a sweet, endearing work of art. Even as Dayna has moved farther away for focusing on choreography in recent years, the dance pieces of We Never Like Talking About the End remain blindingly brilliant.
