Jérôme Bel: Veronique Doisneau Oct 30, 2013

by Erin

Cédric Andrieux is very similar in construct to Bel's previous work, Veronique Doisneau (2004). Both shows invert the spectacle of dance, turning the focus to a the specific experience of an individual performer. Doisneau features the real-life Veronique Doisneau, a long-time member of the corps de ballet at the Paris Opéra. Doisneau dances, hums music, speaks frankly to the audience about life as a ballet dancer. The resulting performance is moving and illuminating.
