It would be hard to imagine a more fitting subject for a piece of contemporary, multi-media theater than Andy Warhol's experimental films of the mid-1960s. The British theater troupe Gob Squad has produced a thoroughly engaging and intellectually provocative work that takes its form and inspiration from Warhol's Kitchen (1965), Sleep (1963), and Screen Tests (1964) and various other Warholian cinematic artifacts.

Okay. I confess. I watch Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. Where else can I get an unsentimental view of America? This reality show focuses on six-year-old beauty pageant queen Honey Boo Boo and her family in rural Georgia. In one episode Honey Boo, Sugar Bear and the rest of the family enjoy eating spaghetti with butter and ketchup on the sofa. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the first episode of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo had 2.2 million viewers. I was one of them and I wanted more.

Several years ago, Seattle School created a multimedia project based upon Andy  Warhol's film Blue. It was an extravaganza that involved the entire building at Northwest Film Forum. A director sat in a small box at the top of the lobby landing watching the film, giving instructions via headsets to three more directors in the larger theatre, who were giving non-verbal directions to three actors also in the larger theatre.

Thank you for coming to see Gob Squad’s Kitchen (You’ve Never Had It So Good). This is a show we’ve been excited about for the past couple of years and are thrilled to finally have it here and to have the company back in Seattle.
