I've never had it so good. Sep 29, 2012

Andy Warhol, perhaps in some drug induced state, once said "Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes". Little did he know that this weekend Gob Squad's Kitchen (You've Never Had It So Good) would help him prove that to be true.

100 Years from Now Sep 28, 2012

It would be hard to imagine a more fitting subject for a piece of contemporary, multi-media theater than Andy Warhol's experimental films of the mid-1960s. The British theater troupe Gob Squad has produced a thoroughly engaging and intellectually provocative work that takes its form and inspiration from Warhol's Kitchen (1965), Sleep (1963), and Screen Tests (1964) and various other Warholian cinematic artifacts.

They Flipped It, They Flipped It For Real Sep 28, 2012

Screens on stage make me angry. Why the hell would I go to a live performance to sit and watch a screen? If I wanted a night of watching television or youtube there's a much easier and cheaper option that involves me and a couch and a bag of chips. A director sat in a small box at the top of the lobby landing watching the film, giving instructions via headsets to three more directors in the larger theatre, who were giving non-verbal directions to three actors also in the larger theatre.

It's all happening NOW! Sep 28, 2012

You're in the shot, now smile. OK now raise your hand up to your face and look intensely at the camera. Breath, good. Ok now look left, lower your hand and look right. Tells us your name. Say it again. Again. Faster. What name would you choose if you were someone else?
